Description

Intensive Acting Workshop: The Actor’s Technique I

Are you ready to get serious about your acting? Have you had a solid amount of acting experience and want to go deeper in your understanding of various schools of acting, as well as their histories and development? Are you willing to put in time outside of class to research and practice what we are learning in class?

In this class, we will cover an overview of modern acting techniques, beginning with Stanislavski, and the impact on acting in Russia and the US. We will trace the development of acting methods by such teachers as Strasberg, Adler, and Meisner. While we understand where these techniques came from, we will also try some of them out, learning to apply them to monologues and scenework.

Teacher:

Koreen Paterson

Koreen is a former school psychologist and teacher turned homeschooling mom. She started performing in musicals in fourth grade—and has been in love with them ever since! Her journeying in theater has included writing and directing a musical for a summer missions team and running a summer Shakespeare program in the local public library. She has also sung in a traveling performance choir and directed a small girls’ choir. Koreen is excited to join the CYT family and continue to learn and grow together!
